Thanks to its diversity, Reunion surprises you in each corner of treasures of nature. Visitors assess this quality without having to make a long trip.

The South and the South-East
are particularly affected by the fractious forces of the still active volcano Piton de la Fournaise. Wild landscapes and untamed natural delights dominate this part of the island.

One of the most beautiful beaches
is situated close to our residence. Especially on the weekends, Grand'Anse can become very crowded, but during weekdays you can easily spend hours and hours there in the protected bay, admiring either the multitude of palm trees or the fiery breaking of the waves. The idyllic place is furnished with a natural pool made of volcanic rocks and a huge picnic area.

In close proximity to us, there is also another top-rated site
Being one of the most attractive waterfalls, the Cascade de la Grand Ravine attracts many visitors. A bridge behind the river Rivière Langevin leads up to a small, windy road which is extremely steep here and there. After reaching the waterfalls, you may go on short hikes in the vicinity of the waterfalls.

If you drive along the ocean road
towards Saint Rose to the East, you will find a number of places well worth seeing. Most of them have came into being because of the volcanic activity of the Piton de la Fournaise. There are rugged stretches of coast line made of lava, sandy beaches of black sand or bizarre lava sculptures where the burning lava met the rough ocean.

One of those places well worth visiting
is the Cap Méchant. Its name which means "the nasty cape" comes from the fact that sailors in former times were frightened when sailing along this turbulent cape. Here, one realizes within the blink of an eye which turbulent forces, that is to say the vulcano, have created the island. Enjoy the vivid waters along the rugged coastline, or have a picnic in the designated areas along the cape.

North of St. Philippe
in the untouched South-East of La Réunion, a nature trail explaining the wonders of volcanism is located at Point de la Table. Due to lava that came down in 1986 in this area after an eruption of the Piton de la Fournaise, the island was enlarged by approximately 60 acres. Especially interesting are all the different types of lavas, its origins and other geological facts about volcanism. You can easily explore this trail on an agreeable walk of about one to two hours.

East of St. Philippe, at the Eastern edges of Piton de La Fournaise
plenty of lava flows are visible, running down the soft foothills of the volcano and not sparing trees and roads. This is why this stretch of land is also referred to as "The big burned area", in French "Le grand brûlé". One of the most recent lava flows dates back to the year 2003. On each of the lava fields, there is parking lots and plenty of trails to walk.

Certainly one of your highlights
of visiting La Réunion will be an excursion to the Piton de la Fournaise. It is the only active volcano of the island at the moment with an altitude of 2632 m. You reach the volcano easily from our guest house via St. Pierre, Le Tampon and Plaine-des-Cafres. Either go for an exhausting hike of four to six to the active chimneys and experience breathtaking glowing and still burning lava streams. Or go on easier walks around the area, there a many of them.

St. Pierre and St. Joseph
both charming cities of the South, inspire visitors to simply stroll around, do some shopping or have a glass of red wine at a side-walk cafe.

Further north, only a two hours drive away
the alluring mountain village of Cilaos with its impressive peaks and magnificent landscapes or the most touching viewpoint of the island, Maido, are located. Also, the bathing resorts of the West coast, St. Gilles les Bain, l'Hermitage or Boucan Canot, are conveniently accessible within a two hours drive.
